Candice wanted her birthday dress. It was a beautiful pink gown with lace and ribbons. She had been dreaming of wearing it for weeks. But on the day of her birthday, Candice's mother told her that she couldn't wear the dress. She said that it was too expensive and that Candice would have to wear something else. Candice was heartbroken. She didn't understand why her mother wouldn't let her wear the dress. She had been so excited about it. Candice went to her room and cried. She didn't know what to do. She felt like she had lost everything. After a while, Candice's mother came into her room. She saw that Candice was crying and she sat down next to her. And in the meantime, you can still have a wonderful birthday." Candice smiled a little. She knew that her mother was right. She would still have a wonderful birthday, even if she couldn't wear her birthday dress. Candice and her mother went downstairs and had a birthday party. Candice had a lot of fun. She played games, ate cake, and opened presents. She even forgot about her birthday dress for a little while. At the end of the party, Candice's mother gave her a present. It was a beautiful pink nightgown with lace and ribbons. It was just like the birthday dress that Candice had wanted. Candice was so happy. She hugged her mother and thanked her. She knew that this nightgown was the best birthday present she could have ever asked for.
