The 1992 arcade version of Space Invaders was originally called Space Invaders: Reborn. It was released in arcades all over the world and featured several enhancements over the original 1980s release. In this version, the aliens descended from the top of the screen instead of rising from the bottom. There were also walls that players could hide behind to protect themselves from enemy fire. The characters were more animated and the shots had more detail. The game also featured a high-score system and multiple levels. Although this version did not have power-ups, they were added in a later release called Space Invaders: Millenium.
