Pirate Treasure Hunt

Game description:

Despite the popularity of pirates burying treasure in fiction, historical pirates did not actually bury treasure very often. Each day in this game, you are taken to a different island with many buried treasures and one "secret" treasure hidden somewhere. To move to a square, click on it. To dig for treasure (hopefully), click on the square you are standing on. The theme of the game is "sandbox," and it successfully captures the feeling of two kids playing pirates and digging up treasure in their backyard. There is a certain thrill in finding something in the sand (an interesting shell, a piece of sea glass, a mysterious old coin), and Cap'n GoldGrubber does an excellent job of recreating that experience. The titular captain is a major part of the game's appeal. Joshua Tomar deserves praise for his outstanding voice acting. Although it is enjoyable to hunt for treasure (though occasionally made difficult by the scenery), once you have purchased a handful of upgrades, finding treasure becomes so simple that it becomes uninteresting and repetitive.
