This chocolate cherry dessert is a delicious way to enjoy both of these flavors. To make the dessert, you will need: 1 cup of all-purpose flour 1/2 cup of sugar 1/4 cup of cocoa powder 1/4 teaspoon of salt 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces 1 large egg yolk 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract 1 cup of fresh cherries, pitted and halved 1 cup of semisweet chocolate chips Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and egg yolk until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla extract and mix well. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the cherries and chocolate chips. Pour the batter into a greased and floured 9x13 inch baking pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool completely before slicing and serving.
