"Connie, wake up! You're going to be late for school!" Connie groaned and rolled over, burying her head under her pillow. "Five more minutes," she mumbled. "No way! You've already slept in twice this week. If you don't get up now, you're going to get detention." Connie sighed and reluctantly sat up. "Fine," she said. "I'm getting up." She swung her legs over the side of the bed and stood up. As she walked to the bathroom, she glanced at the clock. It was 7:30 AM. She was already late. Connie quickly brushed her teeth and washed her face. Then she pulled on her clothes and ran downstairs to the kitchen. "I'm going to be late!" she said to her mom. "Don't worry," her mom said. "I'll make you some breakfast to go." Connie's mom made her a quick bowl of cereal and a cup of coffee. Then Connie grabbed her backpack and headed out the door. She ran as fast as she could to school, but she was still five minutes late. She sighed as she walked into her classroom. "Ms. Smith, I'm sorry I'm late," she said. "It's okay, Connie," Ms. Smith said. "Just take your seat." Connie sat down at her desk and sighed again. She knew she should have gotten up earlier, but she just couldn't seem to help herself. She vowed to herself that she would get up on time tomorrow, no matter what.
