She swam for hours, marveling at all the sights and sounds of the human world. But as she swam, she began to feel homesick. She missed the sea and her friends. She realized that she belonged in the water. With a heavy heart, the mermaid swam back to the sea. She was glad that she had seen the human world, but she knew that she would never truly belong there. She was a mermaid, and she was meant to live in the sea.
