In modern times, the Muses have been used as a metaphor for inspiration. They are often depicted as beautiful women who offer guidance and inspiration to artists and creative people. The question of whether or not there is a real "fairy-like being" that inspires musicians to write music is a matter of personal belief. However, there is no doubt that the Muses have been a source of inspiration for many musicians throughout history.
