Ziggy the Thief Ziggy is a small but determined thief with a dream: to steal all the presents under the Christmas tree. He's been planning this for years, and he's finally ready to put his plan into action. On Christmas Eve, Ziggy sneaks into the house and makes his way to the living room. The tree is magnificent, and the presents are piled high. Ziggy's heart is pounding with excitement as he starts to work. He carefully opens each present, taking only the smallest and most valuable items. He knows that if he's too greedy, he'll be caught. After an hour of work, Ziggy has filled his sack with all sorts of treasures. He's so proud of himself, and he can't wait to see the look on his parents' faces when they see what he's brought them. Ziggy tiptoes out of the house and into the night. He's so happy, he could burst. He knows that he's done something wrong, but he can't help himself. He's a thief, and this is what thieves do. Ziggy runs home and hides his loot under his bed. He can't wait to show his parents in the morning. The next morning, Ziggy wakes up early and runs downstairs to find his parents. He can't wait to see their faces when they see what he's brought them. But when he gets to the living room, the tree is gone. And so are all the presents. Ziggy's heart sinks. He knows what's happened. He's been caught. His parents come into the room and see the look on his face. They know what he's done. "Ziggy," his father says, "what have you done?" Ziggy hangs his head. "I'm sorry," he says. "I couldn't help myself." His parents are disappointed, but they're also understanding. They know that Ziggy is a good boy, and they know that he made a mistake. "We're not going to punish you," his mother says. "But we want you to promise us that you'll never steal again." Ziggy nods. "I promise," he says. Ziggy learns his lesson, and he never steals again. He grows up to be a kind and honest man, and he always remembers the importance of family.
