Bake a Chocolate Mousse Cake

1. Gather your ingredients. You will need: 1 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 cup granulated sugar 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened 2 large eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cup heavy cream, divided 6 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped 2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan. 3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. 4. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the brown sugar until well combined. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract. 5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Stir in the chocolate chips. 6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool completely before frosting. 7. To make the frosting, beat together the heavy cream and chocolate until smooth. Spread the frosting over the cooled cake and serve.
